Wendy Nief kicks off this popular art and performance series in the Commons Building
Wendy Nief, popular vocalist of jazz and blues, will be performing 4 - 6 p.m. at the Commons Building on Main Street Margaretville, on Sunday, Jan. 17. Along with an art opening on Saturday at the Longyear Gallery, Wendy will kick off "Art in Common," a series of multi-art events scheduled throughout the winter and spring at the Commons.
On Sunday, Wendy will be accompanied by Peter Brittain on guitar, and they'll offer a mellow mix of folk, standards, jazz, maybe even a little country. Nief, is a long-time performer with a devoted local following and a Margaretville appearance is sure to draw her hometown friends and fans. "I feel honored to sing for people, and their affection and loyalty challenges me to give everything I have," says Nief. "This time, we're keeping it mellow and relaxing, in keeping with our winter Sunday 'chillin' factor." Harry and the Hippie Chic will be serving their house specialty, rice and beans, with roast pork and chicken, Puerto Rican style, to add to the warmth and spice. Commons businesses will be open for browsing and shopping, including the Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild and the Longyear Gallery, both of which feature local fine arts and crafts.
